Why do I love UKirk and why am I on the board? These are great questions!
The real question behind that question is, “why does a middle age woman serving a church full-time want more responsibility?” It seems that God has been working on my heart for quite some time to answer this particular question, and the answer to it led me to be called to be on the board at UKirk.
First, God has called me to be a community builder. I have the blessing of connecting people to God, to one another, and to their unique call to serve God as the Director of Christian Education and Mission at Fountain City Presbyterian Church. The age group that has been the biggest challenge for me to serve has been our college age members. We seem to lose touch with them when they leave home to prepare themselves for their career mission fields. That disconnect has been on my heart and mind for a long time. I have asked myself over and over again, “how do I strengthen our connection with our college age members?” So, when Andy extended the invitation to join the board it felt like God was opening the door to join our young adults where they are on their college campus.
The more I learn about the ways God is connecting this worshiping community to Himself and each other through the work of Andy, Jaclyn, and Ukirk I realize that God is answering the question on my heart in ways I can’t wait to see unfold and I am honored to be a part of the board and to donate my time and money to support His work at Ukirk.
